DaveC - Whew, you definitely intimidated me while writing my review! I'm afraid it sounds a bit mediocre compared to yours, but you definitely inspired me to help get it started
.
Great description of the set - I agree that it was really well designed and given the space to work with it fit the play very well. It was simplistic yet the freedom of imagination was beautifully articulated - heck you really had to use your imagination during the horse-riding and kite flying scenes, eh?
Although I always felt a bit frightened seeing our Anna on the second level of the stage, always afraid of the lack of a safety net just in case one of the actors might accidentally have a stumble while performing on that upper platform.
ROFL! Indeed! 2/5 times I'd seen the show, the sailboat had made obvious malfunctions and needed to be rescued by someone off-set mid-way through Joseph and Anna's scene in 'Central Park' - was quite silly though when we saw it get stuck about 3/4 through its path across the stage!
Indeed the singing is phenomenal! The guitar playing is quite simplistic, but compliments Anna's lovely voice beautifully. Although you were correct when you mentioned that 'Moon River' was not in the play during one of our conversations - they could not obtain the rights to the song.
On the Gala night I noticed they added the roller skating scene
twice, although Suzanne nearly had a fall during the second time
the humor she adds to the show is brilliant - don't you find yourself looking forward to each time her character appears on stage? She's undoubtedly going to say or do something humorous, loved her.
She can do
anything - such a talented and versatile actress, up there she makes it look so comprehendable, not the slightest hint of nervousness or being uncomfortable either, such a pro. You've spotlighted and listed every quality that she brought to the show that just made her character that much more
real.
Amazingly - she does most of it in high heels
hehe.
Oh I recall how disappointed you were! But I'll admit when I first saw that bath tub on the stage you were the first that came to mind and I remember thinking "oh that DaveC is going to get his wish!" then of course, Joseph goes into the tub (which was candy for my eyes! NOM NOM)
Most definitely. She altered with the character - simply outstanding!
Damn. *applause*
Definitely, from the gallery you're observing, from the stalls you're
experiencing the show. A drastic difference. Btw, I think Dave snagged row F steats in the stalls for the Gala night, am I right? *nudge*
Most definitely! I anticipated seeing the show again and again, most especially looking forward to the final performance in January with you all again
.
Well done on the review DaveC, many compliments and haven't come across one yet by the press that can top your beautifully detailed descriptions!
