Thanks for the news Jen! Still a bit disappointed about David and Anna not having any scenes together in the film, but I understand their reasoning (plus their characters don't interact in the book). Love this quote: "But her fella DAVID THEWLIS is also in the film so can keep a watch on Colin.ROFL! Oh we know he will .

HOLLYWOOD bad boy Colin Farrell and Pushing Daisies star Anna Friel are filming in a legendary East End café today.Oscar winning script writer William Monahan is making his directorial debut with the movie London Boulevard and he also adapted Ken Bruen's best-selling novel for the film
Mr Monahan picked family-run Italian café E Pellicci on Bethnal Green Road to film a lunch meeting between Colin Farrell and Anna Friel's characters.
The popular café recently stood in for a Liverpool diner from the 50s for a movie about the early life of John Lennon.
Mr Monahan told the Advertiser: "You will be able to see the interior of the café in the film, which is a crime romance and will be coming out next year."
It's the tale of a London criminal newly released from prison who is played by Farrell, who becomes involved with an enigmatic actress.
Pellicci's was a popular haunt with the Krays who lived just round the corner in Vallance Road.
Mr Monahan who won the Oscar in 2007 for his script for The Departed also filmed at the First Choice café just a few doors down Bethnal Green Road.Source | Recorder 24.

Posted on imdb for LB I believe it was their first ever screening. they told us the movie was almost complete, it only had the last stages of editing left and a bit of the score. they didnt tell us what we were watching until the we got into the screening, so I didnt have any expectations until then. I did hear of the movie randomly so I was excited to get to see an early screening. I will say that the movie is very good. we are not aloud to say much about it but this should be a movie with good reviews. all the acting was excellent, particularly by the two leads. I dont think Colin Farrell is quite as good here as he was in In Bruges but still a very good performance. and that is by no means a bad thing, he was superb in In Bruges and has just a tad bit less to work with in this film. but still, fans should not be disappointed. Im normally not a big fan of Keira Knightley, Ive liked her in somethings and not so much in others but this is definitely her best performance yet. she impressed me alot. Plus she and Colin Farrell had great chemistry. everyone else was good as well, especially David Thewlis as KK's manager. - by Randy757 on 2 April 2010 www.imdb.com/title/tt1213648/board/nest/160293105?d=160293105&p=1#160293105

What's Up with William Monahan's 'London Boulevard'?"London Boulevard" reportedly completed principal photography in August of 2009 and will serve as Monahan's directorial debut following his Oscar-winning screenplay for Scorsese's "The Departed", but something must be up. Smart thinking would have presumed the film would have landed in Toronto looking for a buyer, but with Monahan still tooling around in post means it obviously wouldn't have been ready. Originally I thought GK Films was just holding off because they didn't want to have another crime romance competing with their just released "The Town" this Fall, but I guess it was something else.Source | © Brad Brevet ( Rope of Silicon) I was thinking this exact same thing last night I'm looking forward to this film so much it physically hurts! C'mon with those release dates (or a trailer at least)!

From Tannim; London Boulevard UK release: Nov 26 Just in case anyone is curious; I know it's been a while since there's been any news on the film:
www.launchingfilms.com/releaseschedule/schedule.php?date=today&sort=date&startmonth=09&startyear=2010#
It's gotten good test screening reactions, but apparently they're having trouble knowing how to distribute it; also, at least up until last week, Monahan was still working on it, so that explains its no-show at TIFF. I still wonder why it's not going to the London FF, though.
I almost wonder if they should just wait until next year so it can have that festival run - otherwise they better starting getting those trailers/still/clips out fast to build up public interest.
Still no official word on the US release, but I've spoken through email to a GK film rep and she said Spring 2011 - I imagine its release will be based on its reception in the UK.Source | Awards Daily Forums

LONDON BOULEVARD; UK Release November 26, February in AmericaInformation regarding William Monahan’s "London Boulevard" (his directorial debut) has been sparse, I can report Monahan is done with the film and we’re very close to getting some new images and a trailer.
Sergio Pizzorno (from the band "Kasabian") has done the original score and the film will be released in the UK on November 26 and in the US in February. "London Boulevard" will be the first offering from Graham King and Bob Berney’s new distribution company, 'FilmDistrict'.Source | © ColliderPerhaps this explains why we all ran into Sergio during the final night of "Breakfast at Tiffany's"? Hmmm.

The scruffy guy with the beard You may have run into him, Amanda, but I kept well out of his way. He looked far too much like Russell Grant *, oooops, sorry Brand, to me, and I don't want to be in his next little booky wooky, thank you. * Another joke that younger readers won't get, but Hell, you have to try (Look him up on Wikipedia)

Indeed. I kept my eyes on him 80% of the time we were in the theater - as I am a fan of the scruffy category of men! I'm devastated this weekend. Russell Brand is getting married in India of course I plan to crash it - that's my man.
