Do you have a side-line as a music promoter? I think we should be told.

Following my first post in this thread.... I now can type the 2nd in my random posts.... Current fave song at the moment is/are: The entire MiNa album "Playground Princess" - the band is Jaël and Luk from the Swiss band Lunik (who are superb). The entire album is excellent - really melancholic, heart-wrenching and emotional... "Sleeping On A Butterfly" is stunning.... Check them out: www.minaduo.com/See their latest video here: www.espace.ch/artikel_456039.htmlIf you like them, drop me a line as I have Jaël's e-mail addy and you can write direct to her to get the album

I find that I'm posting this everywhere I can (which basically means Facebook & livejournal, maybe myspace, but I don't think I'll do that, I dunno), so I figured, why not. Share the music love. I'm not a music reviewer. I don't have the ability to pick out songs & describe them in words that fully describe the emotion conveyed by works of art. But I do believe that I have my moments where I can talk about a song where I don't say 'I can't describe it, it's just there.' So here's this, on one of the songs that I originally didn't really like: I won't lie, this is one song off The Flying Club Cup that I didn't particularly enjoy - that is, until I watched the video from lablogotheque. I preferred that performance rather than the album version, mainly because it was just seemed prettier, beginning with simple string parts - ukulele. Then I come across this video, Beirut on Later...With Jools Holland. And while, for the most part, it's the same as the one on flyingclubcup.com, there's just something about it that I love even more than that video. It could be the shots, or the fact that at one point or another, all the members are singing along with Zach. Perhaps it's because the ukulele intro is just incredibly wonderful. No matter what it is, this performance is truly beautiful. Makes me wish I was in a band like this, it wouldn't matter if I sang, played ukulele, or a horn. It's music like this that makes me remember why I love music above all things. And for some reason, Zach Condon looks incredibly beautiful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAir96N3iOs A Sunday Smile (Live on Later...With Jools Holland) by Beirut

That is one thing that we here in the States in my opinion miss the really cool mash ups of many of the great songs of our time. The last time that I hear of anything close to this was when Linkin Park and Jay-z collaborated and mixed there songs together. Let me just tell you that to me was quite something. 6 songs being mixed together must be incredible. I would love to hear it. ;D

Mash ups, mash-mixes... Aren't you a bit old for this kind of thing, Dave? (Know I am.)
