Anna got a mention on The Sun website - biggest hit in the Brit invasion..... C'mon, Dave! Since when has The Sun played any part in any right-thinking person's cultural outlook. Quoting this smacks of desperation ;D.

Have had a good chuckle at the thought of davec conducting his own poll of potential 'P.D.' viewers over the pond. |
Well I'm back from US now and I couldn't find anyone who gave a monkey's nuts about PD - must be the company I keep I can report lots of posters advertising the show on buses subways and trains around New York, but I didn't see anything in Times Square even though some of the competition had huge adverts (Bionic Woman for one ) I may have missed it as I didn't linger amongst the madding crowds. It was really nice to see Anna's face so often while I was there, but unfortunately all the posters have her so heavily airbrushed it's difficult to recognise her. I only just resisted the temptation to add back in the lovely freckles they've stolen from her, but I do want to go back to the States again one day!

Is everybody ready to cross their fingers at midnight/1pm Oct 3rd/4th (our time) and wish 'P.D.' and Anna all the best on debut. I dont think I'll be taking ti tht literally joe, but definitely hopingt he viewing figures go high after all the hype and they continue to gather pace... I'm preparing possibly for a massive increase in the number of hits to the site a few days after the first show airs... ;D As for promotional interviews coming up for PD crew - doesn't look as though Anna is grabbed yet but found this list: First stop is on Late Night with David Letterman. Barry Sonnenfeld, who directs the shows’ first episode, will be chatting with Dave on October 1st, Monday.
Tune to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on the 2nd of October as Kristin Chenoweth, playing Olive, the pie-maker’s assistant and neighbor, is guest.
Chi McBride, who plays private detective Emerson, is dropping by The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
On Wednesday, October the 3rd, the show’s premiere, Lee Pace, who plays the pie-maker with the extra-ordinary ability, Ned, is visiting the women of The View.
And days following the premiere, Kristin Chenoweth will be visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live on October 16th.

Think it was a bit much to ever think that A would be lined up to appear on the likes of the Letterman show. She is nowhere near that level in the US. The others have got themselves some prettyy big talkshow slots though. Must say am suprised at the level of cross-station action. Over here it is not usual for stars of BBC shows to get slots on ITV talkshows and vice versa. Notice that NBC's 'Bionic Woman' got good viewing figures for its opening show. Will 'P.D.' follow suit? Am trying to remain detached but not totally succeeding. Don't know why, as the box-office (non-)performance of her films doesn't really have any effect on me. Guess it is because I get the feeling that the stakes are high. Have got my own little prayer shrine ready for opening night. Sounds like you are expecting a million hits to crash the site sometime next week, Dave.

Have seen A's face on the cover of at least two U.S. TV mags as part of 'P.D' promos. At least one has turned up on Ebay. The cover pictures would appear to be from the 'Jane Seymour' (copyright davec) shoot.

I've got the impression from reading various bits on the internet that this 'Jane Seymour' photoshoot has been set up to give our US friends some nice publicity pics of Anna to promote 'PD'. I suppose they need some fresh material in addition to those awful airbrushed promo shots of Anna in that red and white dress, or the even worse 'Lily Allen' pic with the fringe in the yellow frock. What I can't understand is why they've done such a boring shoot with listless poses and a drab dress. Surely that's not the image they want to portray of 'Chuck or 'PD' I guess I'll never understand marketing I just hope it doesn't put the good ol' US folk off the show and it lasts more than my predicted 8 episodes. Anyone want to bet higher? ......or lower?

ABC does have history for pulling shows after 8 or so episodes, and there are a few rumblings coming out from behind the scenes regarding production disagreements, but I think you are being a little bleak, davec. Reckon it will at least see out it's first series. (If the mid-season break doesn't do it irrepearable harm, as it has other shows.)
Have read a few negative reviews of the show amidst all the positive ones. Would be interesting to trace the negative reviews back to the corporations that own the newspapers, magazines, websites etc that published them. Am sure they wouldn't be part of the Warner/ABC empire. Know that U.S. media is dominated by around five or six huge conglomerates and is a total sharkpool.
As for the use of 'Jane Seymour' pics for promo purposes, I couldn't agree with you more. The U.S. often has very different asthetic tastes when it comes to these things, but the mind boggles.

Yes, ABC does tend to pull it's shows quickly :S but, they have had quite a few successful shows in the past couple of years - there has been a tremendous amount of hype for the show over here in the states, it's been all over the papers this morning - I picked one up at the University cafe this evening.
Students at the University I attend are having a "Pushing Daisies" party on the big screen in the dormitory halls and I'm currently at work tonight V_V !!!! ARGH!!!

Lovely L.A. street scene. The place just reeks of class.
Is it just coincidence that another site has gone down the day after 'P.D.' premiered? Has your hit rate changed at all, Dave?

Guess you've all noticed that another site has completely disappeared off the Google search results list. Something is clearly up, anyone have any idea what?
