Mybe in Sept when Anna starts her play in London we can ask her if she knows when its comming out.
Maybe she has a copy of it & willing to let Dave do some copies of it for fans at a small cost that goes to Anna or a charity of Anna's choice..

Tony - not really sure that is something we can ask Anna to do..... I think at the moment there is no real planned date except which davec has mentioned - it could still (and probably will !) change....

Tony - not really sure that is something we can ask Anna to do..... Perhaps we could persuade Anna to act out a scene from the film for us instead. Now, which scene should we go for? We'd need to have the right props......... Anyone got an old bath tub and some red water ;D

You know, this thread has had more views than the 'Pushing Daisies' thread (good taste, everyone ) and I'm determined not to let it die And guess what, neither is this film See the website below for details of the UK Premiere - even I never thought that would happen. www.grimmfest.com/Now if I can just tie that in with a visit to Old Trafford, that really would be a 'Theatre of Dreams' - almost as good as last night at Tiffany's ;D Anyone else interested?

Hell's teeth, I don't believe it Just days before its scheduled release the DVD of Bathory has been delayed yet again New date is now 10th November. I'll believe it when I see it - which I will just as soon as it creeps out

You really are determined to keep this thread bustling aren't you dearest...LOL!
Well, it looks hopeless to be released on DVD here in the US (much less Blu-Ray like I anticipated) - might just have to buy the R2 version once its available (hopefully November sticks this time!)

Well, it looks hopeless to be released on DVD here in the US (much less Blu-Ray like I anticipated) - might just have to buy the R2 version once its available (hopefully November sticks this time!) It's a very important milestone in Anna's career, showing her willingness to stretch herself and take risks just like she's doing now at the Haymarket. It's also a very welcome (for me at least) juxtaposition to 'Pushing Daisies', which you know is not my favourite piece of her work Anyway, for those who have forgotten, here's the link to the website that will eventually herald the European release of 'Bathory' on DVD and Blu-Ray: www.arara.cz/product/121963Oh, and by the way, don't forget it's got it's UK premiere on 1st November at 5.30 in the afternoon at Grimmfest in Manchester. Tickets are just £5. What a bargain www.grimmfest.com/The 'Bathory' thread - still alive and kicking hard

I agree, and Anna was so passionate about the role and the character - she definitely pulled off both Bathory and 'Breakfast' beautifully as she sought to! I applaud her for taking on such large and difficult roles, Bathory is definitely one of her best, you can tell she gave it her all (energy and everything!). Awwww, deep down inside you love it just a little bit...I know it! Will you be able to attend ?

Will you be able to attend ? Unfortunately not Mixture of work (on-call this weekend and had to do a swap last weekend for the rally so couldn't really swap again) and tiredness/under the weather Definitely not swine flu, but a cold as a result of too much Welsh weather last weekend. I hope everyone who went along enjoyed it - DVD out soon (Just 10 days to go) P.S. Oh dear, just looking at the website and 'Bathory' has disappeared from the schedule Glad I didn't make the trip then

Here you go DaveC - some Bathory news . Movie about infamous Hungarian countess boasts record budgetA Czech-Slovak-English-Hungarian produced biopic of the infamous 16th Century Hungarian countess Erzsébet Báthory will begin its run in Hungarian cinemas next Wednesday.
"Bathory", shot over two years at 45 locations in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and with 4,000 extras, cost Ft 3 billion, making it the most expensive Eastern European film ever. UK actress Anna Friel stars as the much maligned aristocrat.
The subject of the film has long been considered the "female Dracula", famed for torturing and killing hundreds of young girls just so that she could bathe in their blood and preserve her youth. However the film's Slovak director Juraj Jakubisko apparently sought to reappraise the life of the countess.
Historian Gábor Várkonyi said "recent historical research suggests that members of her court may have fabricated these charges in order to acquire her vast wealth. The director said he wanted to show that Central Eastern Europe has a major history and large-scale personalities, since many people do not know that "the West was spared Ottoman rule because of us."Source | Caboodle.
